T-Shirt Recycling

What do you do when you’re out of High School and have 30 t-shirts that would suggest otherwise?
You have your mom make you an amazing quilt!

My mom spent hundreds of hours of labor making this blanket.
She gave it to me for Christmas. She calls it “The Quilt That Stole Christmas”

I absolutely love it. I love my mom. It now graces my bed at college.

Every patch (aka t-shirt) has a such a meaningful memory. Here are a few:

Yard work, if it's done right, can kill a girl...

I hate yardwork!!! It's something I hope I "grow" into liking but don't find it very likely. I got woken up yesterday morning (my other favorite Saturday task) by mother asking me to help her out back. Before I went out to work, I went to the fridge to acquire my yogurt breakfast and ewwwww: the fridge STINKS! I go to my car to get work gloves and ewwwww: my car is MESSY! I go to put my shoes on and ewwwww: I'm completely out of CLEAN SOCKS! I look for a shovel and ewwwww: there are SPIDERWEBS all over the porch! Needless to say, I did a lot more than yardwork yesterday.

Mom enjoyed herself. Enjoyed torturing me anyway.

The most agonizing task was picking up the hundreds of rocks that blew onto the grass and putting them back so the lawn mower wouldn’t pick them up.

Can you tell how much I love yard work?

I found out that the stink from the fridge was my BIRTHDAY dinner. But it’s clean now.

I’m definitely the daughter of my grandfather’s daughter….

I  admit to having a serious problem. I’m a HOARDER! If I have anyone to blame, it’s my mother. She doesn’t get rid of anything. I have collected clothes since I was in middle school and yes, I still wear the clothes from middle school (and so does my mother). So this causes a predicament, one being that I will be moving to Provo in the fall and I don’t think leaving any my clothes behind is an option. The solution “just get rid of the clothes you don’t wear” is not a solution because guess what? They ALL get worn. There is not one article of clothing in this closet that I haven’t worn in the past two months. (Spring/Summer skirts and shoes don’t count.) I wonder how my roommate, Venice, feels about giving up her closet space for me. I will gladly share mine. The reason being there will be panic attacks if I don’t have my cotton friends surrounding me. My mom says getting rid of the flip flop collection will give me the room I need (bottom of picture). It’s pretty awful that having too many clothes and being addicted to it is one of my biggest problems in life. Just think of all the people in the world that don’t have clothes to wear.
